Welcome to the 2009-2010 AIIM Midwest meeting year. For those of you not familiar with our chapter and what we do on a local basis; we are the community that provides education, research, and best practices to help organizations find, control, and optimize their information. Typically we are associated with Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software and practices, which help organizations large and small deal with issues surrounding their documents and records needed to conduct business.

At our events, you will hear talk about document/information capture, Business Process Management (workflow), Content Management, Records Management, and everything in between.

Those that attend our events are some of the brightest and most talented minds within the industry. Many members and attendees attribute involvement with the AIIM Midwest chapter as a key tool in creating  robust and successful careers. Your attendance at our events and connections you make to our network provide you with an edge in your career and are done at an exceptional value.

This year we are going to go back to our roots a bit. Although we will not abandon our tradition of providing top-notch, local events with knowledgeable speakers and interesting case studies, we are going to begin to increase our focus on developing personal relationships and building our social networks. This has been a compelling feature of attendance for generations of the AIIM community and I hope to start resurrecting it.

Neworking is essential, but education is our mission. We have a great education year planned for you as our discussions span the industry with topics ranging from Taxonomy to Sharepoint. We are going to the trenches as we tour the operations of two local businesses and we're providing information to the general public via a Shred Day. We promise to try to make each meeting worth your time.

It's going to be an awesome year, I hope you can join us!

Craig Shogren,
President, AIIM Midwest Chapter
